The Somme Poppy Marathon
Welcome to the Somme ‘Poppy' Marathon 2010
In Picardie "The Somme Poppy Races" have become one of the important sporting events in the runners calendar.
A unique event in France associating four races, from 5 kilometres to a full marathon!
We encourage athletes of all levels to participate, there are cash prizes for the top athletes but for Sunday morning joggers like myself taking part is everything!
Running for a good cause
All runners are encouraged to help us to raise money for our chosen charity.

Commemorative
The full and half marathon will take participants over the hallowed ground of the WW1 battlefields, going by sites where soldiers marched and fought in such awful conditions between 1914 and 1918, running past the Lochnagar Crater, the Thiepval Monument the Newfoundland Memorial Parkand the Ulster Tower.
Marathon village
In our Fantastic Marathon village you and your family can relax after the race. We have tried to think of everything for your comfort and entertainment.
There will be: lunch or sandwiches and refreshments tents: dance shows, live music, bouncy castle and even a crèche for your little children. Our partners and Handisport will have stands and will be happy to meet you.
